With most notable mountain ranges in the Rockies, there are classic spots from which to photograph them. The weddings photos end up looking the same because those spots are done over and over again. That's not my style. When Corey and Scott hired me for their Victor, Idaho wedding and a Day After session, I knew we had to get the Tetons into a photo that was different. I scouted the morning before the shoot, using some locations that were provided to me from guests at a wedding earlier in the summer in Stryker, Montana. I was able to find one of those spots in Teton Canyon and I timed our shoot so that we'd have the view of those mountains at twilight. We worked the valley floor at sunset, getting the last wisps of light on Corey, then once the sun went down we moved up the mountain towards Grand Targhee Resort. I shot this scene with off camera flash at first, then, working to get my couple a little diversity in their portfolio, I shot it with only natural light. It was pretty dark so I was pushing the limits of my camera here, but this mood really resonates with me. I just let Corey and Scott be themselves, which brought out this real emotion and body language.
