I spent the last six weeks on a small island in the Republic of Vanuatu working on an annual personal project where I take family portraits and photograph all of the residents of the island from a documentary perspective. I’m still working through the images, but will post a link to the crowdfunding project (to help pay for prints and books to be returned to the residents) when it goes live in a couple months. I am also working on a long blog post from last year’s project in Nomuka, Tonga, which I will publish soon. In the meantime, feel free to peruse the gallery of images from that project on my website.
But while I was away a few contests announced their results! The first is the Wedding Photojournalist Association’s 2016 Quarter Four results, of which I won two awards in the Parents category. Also the final points tally from 2016 is complete and I tied for 22nd place in the whole world!! That is a humbling honor, as my name is in amongst some of my favorite, most admired photographers in the industry!
This is one of my favorite photos from my entire wedding photography career. It was taken at Heidi and Dylan’s Big Sky Resort wedding last July:
This is one of my favorite “less serious” moments from 2016, taken at Leane and Adam’s Chico Hot Springs wedding:
