Ryan and Chris’s Many Glacier Wedding

This was one of those weddings that will remain top of mind out of the hundreds of weddings I have photographed. Ryan and Chris are extraordinary people with beautiful children combined into a new family, and Ryan feels so much that made my photography such a good fit. But also, a 4am start time in Many Glacier doesn’t happen without a good story. I only got a few hours of sleep the night before – in my car – then woke up at 3am and stuck to my plan of always bathing prior to a wedding by taking a swim in Swiftcurrent Lake. I met Ryan and the girls at 4am, where Ryan’s oldest daughter was doing everyone’s hair (very well!). We then shifted back to the Many Glacier Hotel and stuck to the schedule of having the wedding ceremony at first light, before the sun even hit the tips of the surrounding peaks. After sunrise portraits we had a little breakfast before taking the whole wedding guest list – including four friends who traveled up from TX to perform the ceremony and serve as witnesses – on a hike to Redrock Lake. Many Glacier is one of my favorite places in the country and this was such an adventurous, fun way to celebrate there with a small guest list.
