Jessica + Dan’s Olympic Club Wedding

One of my favorite things at weddings is when storylines circle back to the early times of a couple’s relationship. At Jessica and Dan’s San Francisco wedding, they had their rehearsal dinner at Sociale, a favorite dinner date location, and their ceremony was on the same dance floor where they had their first kiss. Also, their officiant is the person who introduced them!

The Olympic Club was just an incredible setting for a seaside wedding. Of note to me were the elderly trees lining the fairways, the views over the city in one direction and the Pacific in the other, how early the golfers arrived, and the number of electric cars in the parking lot. We had to provide our proof of vaccine and wear masks, which is an important marker for the times we’re going through (and which I photographed).

Some of my favorite moments of the day were the mother of the bride and her sister cross-stitching in the bridal suite, the crow that came in for the first look, the flower girls killing time with iPads prior to the ceremony, and the end-of-night photos described below.

Something I’ve long wanted to do is to go back to the hotel with the couple at the end of the night. This isn’t right for most people so it needs to be the right couple and the right situation and Jessica and Dan were exactly that. We had an after party at a favorite bar of theirs, which was just a couple blocks from where the three of us were staying, so when we left the bar I clumsily carried my camera gear while snapping pictures of them walking down the street at 1am, freshly married.
