The family documentary movement is really beginning to take hold with two organizations popping up in the last year to serve as a resource for families looking for photographers and to give out family photojournalism awards! I recently entered the inaugural Family Photojournalist Association‘s competition and came back with quite a haul of awards for the Day in the Life sessions I’ve photographed over the past couple years. I’m really excited this genre of photography is gaining traction. I’ve been getting more inquiries from families specifically searching out a photographer who will document their family’s everyday moments instead of just a posed Christmas card portrait and I love it! These type of photos will be SO valuable to kids when they grow up. Can you imagine having photos like this from your childhood?
The Gold Awards mean that all four judges voted for that photo. The Blue Awards mean that 2-3 of the judges voted for that photo.
